    Not been slackin.!

Engine and trans' is in for fabbing mounts..

Been working on the front axle & got to sorting the lower link mounts onto the chassis. They were close to the crossmember, and seen as that needs modifying anyways, i thought id look at incorporating the link mounts and crossmember..

dunno tho.. Everything is hinged on this bit now, cant get on with either the axle or the engine until ive sorted it out

      Good stuff.
Bin that viscous fan coupling, you won't have room for it anyway.
Re-fit the pulley though and use a washer or two to cover the non-threaded part of the studs.

        Looking at RMA's build..

Could you not just find a slightly tighter belt and get rid of the V-fan mount altogether?

Few more shots this morning of where it's sitting..

        And proposed x-member..

I have to collect some bolts from the engineers this morn' so I'll have a go at costing it

Oh..and one with the axle underneath..

Dont think my garage is going to be high enough for final set-up, the axle is nr enough where it's going to be in that shot, maybe an inch or 2 higher? Add another 16" for half the dia of the wheel an it's gonna be big.

Ok, got the x-member cut-in and rear link mounts tacked on. I'm going to bolt it to (x4) 8mm angle plates welded to the chassis. Gives me a 30mm flange to bolt thru..I may run a brace from the top of the plate to chassis yet..see how it goes when bolted up.

Gonna slow right down now tho I think, need to order steering components from the states before I can finalise the position of everything. Still need to fab a few more mounts, extend the front shaft, overhaul the axle and mount the engine proper..

engine is 10-15mm too low here, but shows how nice and simple the mounts should be..famous last words..lol

Seems like I've been busting my balls on it with not much to show, but it's coming together..slowly

Jus been tinkering around trying to get little jobs done..fuel pump this morn'

Tank out and ready for investigations.

Ready to fit the pump. Engine feed trimmed to appropriate length & 'cap' drilled @ 12mm with a piece of fuel pipe inserted to take the wires.

Final assembly. This is where I realised it wouldn't fit through the hole I 'snipped' a notch out as not to get any debris in the tank

Job done..the sleeve for the wires was back filled with RTV gasket seal, as was the underside of the sleeve where it passes through the cap. I don't think it needed it, but while the stuff was there..why not.

Fuel pump was one I had floating around, it's from an Escort Cosworth & looks pretty much the same as the skyline one, rated at 255l & good for 500bhp in the Ford so it'll do. Oh, and it seems they're cheaper than the skyline ones after a quick scout on eBay.

                  Fin.

                        Zorsts..

Been getting on, steady away..might try fire it up tomoz still a massive amount to do but it would be a boost to hear it, even spluttering would do. No cooling system on yet, so it would (hopefully) literally be a couple of seconds

They won't do much silencing, you should have just painted the pipes red.
You can run the engine for about 30 secs with no coolant by the way.

I like your optimism..I'll be surprised if it runs, having said that, my relay block is clicking away in the right places..apart from the fuel pump.

I've made a few schoolboy errors to be fair..

not realising there's an ECU (which I didn't salvage) to control the fuel pump from 93- so I'll have to trigger the relay with an ignition feed..

chopped the transmission loom off the surf engine loom when I gave it to Matt, so I need to wire the 4WD switch back into the 4x4 ECU & speedo back to dash..not using the lex clocks initially

Is this a side exit system?

lol..not much of a system, but side exit yea. This is the easy option (of course!), if it's unbearably loud, I'll work on a 2 into 1 system, just want to get it out of the garage ASAP
