You could say that. The more I do to it the more I want to keep it for myself. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like, It's going to sound different to the others, but in a good way. (Google/Youtube Flowtech Raptor mufflers.) Plus as you know, I've used 2" tubing for the exhaust so you'll get the maximum torque from the engine at lower revs, better for off-roading, and you can light up the rear tyres whilst sat at the lights whenever you feel like it.

Considering this was basically a scrapper, it's kind of evolved rather than just brought back to life.

I've already got a theme for the engine's look in my head for the next one though, nothing like the previous three.

look similar to mine but mine are smaller

are the parrallel or pointing inwards i found why most grilles point in! as to the drivers eye parrallel grilles look like the are pointing outward as it contrasts with the line of the humped middle bit of the bonnet as that looks straight to the drivers eye and does put you off initially. if that makes sense. i positioned mine over either valve head and you can see the heat rise through them on a clear day! will put some pics up later!

as always top quality work though vince! expect nothing less!

PS do like the EFI etc relay position! where is the fuel pump 5point relay? i put it in the spare holder in the existing fuse box! well it does keeps it out the way of the foot well! how you going to waterproof it?

                  • love the touch on the front grille vince. ive just picked up a pair of nissan primera bonnet vents which look like they will fit without cutting the inner bonnet frame - ill let you know how it goes. the gas struts are a neat idea as well - with a 4" lift and 33s little guys like me need the nearest kerb to get the stay rod in. cant wait to see the finished truck its gonna be something special - keep me in mind whenever youre free vince - the jobs yours anytime you want it.

Vents follow the edges of the bonnet's centre bulge ...

Those relays are for the ECU and fuel pump with a spare relay for extra lights or whatever. I've wired the V8 into the Surf's starter circuit using the stock relay.
I wire the fuel pumps independantly of any ECU signals, I use 5 pin relays wired through the ignition/start circuit so the pump only runs when the engine is cranking then switches over to continuous running triggered by the alternator's 'L' wire, when the engine has started. Also, the pump cuts out if the engine stalls, which is also a safety feature.

Yeah, I've used VWP before, but I mainly use these now....

                        Thanks Gary.

Now I've squirted that expanding foam under the ribs, the bonnet feels much more solid now and no so tinny. Yours will have struts too.

Getting yours done may be sooner than you think, I'm free from the middle of October now, unless any of the others that want theirs done let me know that they're ready.

Yeah, just the standard one that all Surfs have, no power bulges I'm affraid.
Do you like the stickers and the polished and relocated VIN plate? thought I'd brighten the engine bay up a bit!
