I don't know if it fits as I couldn't get mine out! The hole in the Lexus tank seems bigger than the Surf's anyway if I remember. Some people have used the Lexus pump but I've never seen any photos.

yeah it wasnt easy to get to it. it was behind the backseat had to rip all that out and there was a big round plate had to unscrew to get into fuel tank and it was there. will give it a go and if not fit then get a walbro pump

        Danny,

I think earlier in the thread you say the Lexus was a J reg - what's the milage?

Reason - I notice you have an O2 sensor near each manifold - and they look to be in a tight spot for changing. I would consider fitting new ones. New copies off ebay are only about £35.

My Cruiser was pretty much undriveable once the O2 started to fail - it causes chaos with the ECU - it has no idea how much fuel to meter to the injectors, it runs like crap. You actually end up thinking something very serious has gone wrong.

In fact, I think Vince's started to fail for this reason - VINCE?

The sensors should be changed about every 80,000miles (? I think ?)

bushy do you have an oil cooler assembley piece between the bracket for the filter coming off the engine and the oil reloc piece? or have you just screwed the oil reloc piece onto the oil filter bracket?

I didn't bother with the stock oil cooler, I just joined to two cooliant hose ends together and screwed the relo kit base straight to the block.
The extra capacity of the filter and the feed and return hoses, together with the sump having lots of air flow over it is probably cooling the oil better than the stock cooler anyway.

Did you see the photos I posted on page 7??

so is fitting the V8 into surfs going to be a new part time job for you?

finally after the postal strike and all that the manifolds form america finally turned up! managed to get the modified exhaust manifolds on not the most accuate made as had to spend about 2 hours filing the holes to get them to fit the bolt config but its on now and tight

i know they will reduce power a bit but for missing the sterring arm and the torsion bars etc i think its worth it

vince can see i have now removed the oil cooler and fitted the oil reloc kit. think i can lower the engine a few inches now with that off!

Blimey, they look shite!!! Very similar to the Soarer's manifolds.
Bad design having the outlets hitting the collector at 90 degrees, exhaust gasses need to be free flowing. You'll get the same performance as the stock manifolds, just more clearance.

i know vince the manifolds arent the best they look the same as other manifolds in some of the other conversions i have seen but they could have been the soarer manifolds

at last get some more work done on the conversion!

managed to finally sort the gearbox out and get the lower middle screw tapped as on the lexus box, there is no lower middle screw hole but there is the metal for it.
also managed to get the rotary part of the speed sensor cut right and screwed in. Also on the adaptor mount between the GB&TC need to drill out the hole to 15mm for the lexus speed sensor to fit

finally got the engine mounts and the back TC mount sorted just need to put the GB&TC together and attach it to the engine athen tack up the plates to the mounts and its in at last hopefully monday next week!
will hammerite them once welded up!

the chassis part of the mounts fit on the the original surf mount fixings so just got to bolt these mounts to them and tack the top of them ot the plate i have bolted onto the engine

now for the wiring and putting the engine auxillary parts back together

Vince thanks for the write up on the 4WD ADD bypass this area is where i feel i am going to come a bit unstuck. couple of questions regarding the 4WD drive secion. i see you said you had sorted the wiring for the 4WD for hiroler's surf does that mean he has high 2 & 4WD and low 4WD? and the are you keeping the surf combimeter or putting the lexus in? as i think you said the green 4WD light will come on when 4WD egaged?

if delete the ADD & get rid of the 4WD electrics would that leave just high 2 and low 4 by the mechanical H2-L4 shift lever of the TC? what speed do you reach in L4 in 1st because i only used L4 for off roading with the 2.4D i only used L4 -2 for uphill and L4 -1 for down hill as couldnt really go any faster so with the V8 i asume you only need L4 - 1 for up and down hill as i dont think i could go up a hill about 40mph in 2nd??
