So a few more pics,
Sealed the sump flange with some extremely sticky Loctite goo that I hope will do the job. The Oil Pump Pick-Up Pipe with new gasket, baffle plate, lower sump gasket and finally the lower sump itself.
The elephant in the room is the Head Gasket, I mentioned I found a very cheap, (like $90 plus shipping) Full Engine set from the US, and it does have endless washers and grommets that would be a real pain to find otherwise, however, the cheapness was evident in the head gasket, which is not something you should ever skimp on anyway, but at this point, I can't quite stretch to a set of Cometic gaskets no matter how cool they are.
The right bank gasket went on fine, all looked good, but the left wasn't cooperating, the pressed in copper ring that locates on the block dowel, was just too tight, but I tried, very gently to slip over, and it did, but trying to get it down to the fire face just resulted in dislodging the copper ring, and that's when I called it a night...
