  • KZN130 Just wont start

    Wonder if anyone can help
So 3 weeks ago the surf was ticking over fine.
    then stopped.
I was low on fuel but not empty and there was no warning light.
So first thing I thought it could be was fuel, took the hose of the filter and started pumping the primer, found out the primer no longer works.
New primer and filter, tried again
Still not starting, read the forums and discovered that there are little filters in the pump, I removed the pump and cleaned the filters.
While doing this the batteries were disconnected which wipes the ECU
Put it all back together and it started, but with a ECU warning light....hmm
Drove it round the block, ECU goes away and comes back, then engine dies
Call the AA, DIAG check - Crank sensor
I fitted a new crank sensor (Genuine Toyota part) .
    Tried to restart
New error - Error 22 - Water temp sensor - yep while fumbling around I broke the plastic housing.
New water sensor (Genuine Toyota part) later
    Try again.... still no start
Now when I read the ECU code all im getting is constant flashing
    Any ideas ?

Up till now the Surf has been brilliant.

Constant flashing = no code. Fuel at the injectors?

I will have a look at this
From what I have read on other threads I can just connect 12v direct to it, is this true ?
I don't want to make anything worse.

Also does anyone have a part number and a rough cost of a new part?

I assume everything else has been checked first.

Id not even try testing it. A new one is £80 ish. I have the part no somewhere.

When you realise what the spill valve actually does and controls, you'll consider replacing!

If you can find the part number that would be great, I spoke to the Toyota parts department and they couldn't find a part number for it and said it may come with the pump..... Not going down that route

                    Many thanks for the image.
Is there a relay for the Spill valve?
looking at several other diagrams etc its a little confusing as many times the info is for another model of engine
