All running now, was something really simple.
I knew it had to be some thing that wasn't connected up as i'd gone through the timing etc..., a hundred times. I felt around the back of the engine to see if there were any wires, pipes, connectors i'd missed and low and behold there was an earth strap hidden under the firewall/transimission tunnel.
This came from a loom around the back, bolted it to the head and bingo! First crank of the key and it started and idled fine.
Thank fudge for that!
What i need now is a passenger side headlight so if anyone has one you could sell me and post out asap i'd be extremely happy so i can go to go to Scotland next week for xmas.
