    Update

Right, just in case anyone is interested here's an update. I fitted the starter that Tony lent me and she starts.... SORT OF!

The engine cranks and starts eventually but will either stop almost straight away or tick over; somewhat lumpilly, for a few minutes but at no more than 250 RPM before cutting out. I tried adjusting the screw on throttle body but no change.

I did notice that one of the vacuum hoses behind the throttle body has a small hole in it (see picture) which could explain it's reluctance to idle properly, so I'll get some vacuum hose and replace the lot. Also, the turbo pressure sensor lug has broken off and although this shouldn't stop it starting it will need sorting.

      Spill Control Valve?

      Here's what I can confirm :

      1. Fuel getting to pump
      2. Fuel getting out of pump
      3. Fuel at each injector
      4. Spill control valve getting permanent 12v until ignition turned on then it drop to around 2v.

Can anyone tell me if these voltages are correct as I don't have the manual for the KZN130.

She turns over then eventually starts but ticks over slowly and lumpily but will rev for maybe 30 seconds before just cutting out.

Has anyone got any other thoughts as I'm running out of ideas...

      I appreciate any help

Check all engine earths, I had a problem with one that's located on the back of the block deck down behind the rear of the cylinder head.

          Thanks Alan,

I'll take a look at the earths, although a bad earth should stop a diesel once it is already running unless it causes the spill valve to shut I suppose. Hmmm, something to think about...

I have also read a lot of posts about the lift pump. Supposedly it should go hard? Either I'm stronger than I think or mine is knackered as it seems to stay the same no matter how long I pump. Could it be drawing air in from here and causing it to stall?

          Anyone got one spare (TonyN)?
