Just apply a little bit of fresh oil on the rubber seal and don't overtighten it.
No need to prime with oil.

Fitted the genuine Toyota filter this morning, and now even from cold the light goes out almost immediatelly. And after leaving it to run for a few minutes and restarting it, the light actually went out as it was cranking over!

Note to self: always buy genuine stuff for the engine!

Thanks for all your help you guys!

Just thought I'd dig this old thread up again. I have changed the oil and filter since the last thread, and have covered about 3000 miles or so, but have noticed that the oil light stays on for 3-4 seconds again after starting from cold. It will go out straight away if I stop and start it again shortly after. Got a genuine filter and Toyota 10w-40 oil. What would cause it to take so long before the light goes out? Where is the pressure sensor? Maybe I could take it out and clean it up or something?

        Cheers,

The sensor will be near the filter and have one wire going to it, usually yellow with a blue or black stripe.

Mine seems to do the same, i use Boshi filters. Stays on for a few secs then goes off. I don't rev or drive the car until it's gone off.

Surely that can't be good though as it demonstrates low oil pressure. I've never had a car, petrol or diesel that this.

Perhaps i'll try a genuine Toyota filter next change.

I just wanted to ask this question. So far every oil change i've done i also change the filter as per any other car i've had. I've read that you can change the filter every other oil change.

              Any thoughts on this?
              Now it's time to play!

I'm using OEM filters and my oil pressure light stays lit for about 3 sec on a cold start. I'm not concerned about it.

On another note, what kind of oil change intervals are you guys doing? As the truck takes about 7.5L of oil, I'm going with 7500kms (4688miles). Is this too long? The truck doesn't consume any oil, and I've only done 2 changes since I got it, the 1st was at 5000kms as I was using cheaper oil, and had reused the filter I got on the truck, so one oil change at the longer interval so far.
