Sorry this is a bit long winded, but I need to thoroughly explain the fault.
My KZN185 has developed a problem, where by when I reach a speed of 55 and over, the truck vibrates. The best way I can explain it is it feels like I'm driving over a grooved surface. The faster I drive the more pronounced the vibration. Oddly enough, when I remove my foot from the accelerator, or put it in neutral the vibration increases dramatically.
I had notices a leaking front seal on my centre diff. and assumed it was related. I had it to a garage today, as I'm rather busy and they could not find anything physically wrong with the drive components and checked all the oil levels of the diffs.
To no avail.
I then thought that it might be related to the transmission as it does clunk a bit when engaging from neutral to drive or reverse. Level was a tad low, bottom of the scale, the colour was nice and red and no smell of burning.
I also sometimes hear/ feel a slight knock when setting off from a standstill.
I'm not really sure what to look at next and my thoughts are that I'm going to use a process of elimination, i.e. remove front drive shaft, try, replace, remove rear, etc.
Only one other thing to mention.
This fault has only started after I recently fit a 2" suspension lift. Double checked everything and all is tight. Coincidence maybe ???
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
