just been to boubmouth and back 60 mile round trip. no getting hot or overheating. but i did notice that the temp was creeping up when i was doing 80. so any ideas now?
From your original post, were you towing or just driving normally? If I'm towing then I can watch the auxhilliary temp guage on mine creeping up on hills and then dropping back down when on the level (the Toyota guage didn't move at all). I think that might have been more to do with the ATF fluid getting extremely hot under pressure and giving out the excess heat to the bottom of the radiator, meaning the cooled water going back into the engine was far hotter than it should be, leading to the rise in coolant temperature.
Having put a new radiator in mine, I'm hoping to see an improvement when I tow the caravan down to Cornwall in a couple of weeks, as it's running much cooler in normal trim at the moment.
When did you last flush the system out ?? You may be starting to clog the rad with sediment. This is usually ok on short run's, But would show up if the engines working hard. Dont forget to remove the thermostat before flushing and open all the heaters to full on.
thats next on my list and to replace rad cap and t stat

was thinking of soemthing along those lines too, if you're on hilly terrain your atf fluid will be getting warmer than on flat. It hen dumps the heat inyour rad warming up the water. Found that last year when I towed your old truck, was doing ok until we had to climb that hill then it cooked. Invest in one of these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Fluid...spagenameZWD1V
