  • 2.4 head problems

Hi all. Could do with any ones advise on this one. Yesterday my 2.4 surf started misfiring and deisel smoking quite badly. I assumed that an injector was not blowing off properly so i bled the injectors off. No air in the injectors but number 3 injector seemed to be the one that was playing up so i parked the truck up.
This morning it seemed ok untill it warmed up,then i got the same problem. The water system is pressurising so i ran a block test on it to find exhaust gasses in the coolant system. The engine is not over heating but steam is present in the exhaust gasses. Is this sounding like the dreaded cracked head syndrome???. Any advise would be greatly accepted.
    cheers Steve.

I had the same recently on my Gen 3.

I got a brand new head with valves and camshaft off eBay. Absolutely nothing wrong with it and much cheaper than engineering companies around my way wanted just for the head. Got the gasket kit off the same seller.

        Now it's time to play!

              Cylinder Head

              Hi Steve,

Email me on stevengreenwood1 at aol dot com and I will pass on the sellers details. I've just emailed him and he's still got it. I think it was brand new and not had much use at all before the vehicle was scraped.

              Cheers

              Steven
