Hi
Whilst I have the head off the 2.4 lump, I was looking at the pump.
The timing marks didn't line up like the others after the belt was removed.
I tried moving it by hand back to the correct position but gets progressively tighter. Move it back it is ok but then goes stiff again.
Had a swift look through the past threads for any clue but not found any.
If I attach a socket to the pulley and turn it clockwise it tightens then springs forward, as though it is riding over a spring loaded cam.
I know some popes are lobe type, or run over a spring cam with a non return type valve in.
Basically, should the pump sprocket turn smoothly by hand without the tight spots, or is the pump as broken as the head.
Regards
