  • fuel pump anyone?

    Hi all,
I've got a problem with my fuel pump, seems to be leaking from the front part where the fuel lines come out from. by the looks of it there must be a huge o ring in there and changing that might not be as straight forward as I think.
does anyone have a fuel pump for sale for a 2nd gen 91 model?
I would appreciate all the hel'p I can get
    Many thanks

They all seem to be leaking lately! there is some stuff on the breakers bit that should sort you out, and have a look on this thread for some info that may help.

I rang rough trax to find out about pumps but they did not seem to know what I wanted. Ok, no worries, will give them another Callander see if I can get a set of seals. Will let you know. Would be great if you could fix it
          Many thanks

                  fuel pump

kris it is simple to change the o rings on the pump just make sure it is not leaking from the top of the pump around the big nut and seeping down the back of the pump. it is a basket to get at everything while the pump is in situ so just mark the cam belt and pully with tip ex and take the pulley off the pump. then take pump off easy this way nothing will jump out of the top cover just be careful not to break the wire from the contacts on the lid where the big nut is dont get the seal kit from toyota if you do take your bank manager with you just go to a seal company and get from them you can use viton seals if your worry about heat i changed mine a year ago and its been ok i just used standard o rings 65 to 70 shaw

Can you replace the seals on a mechanical pump too?

Mr knowlege said, make a line on the belt and a line on the pump pulley. ( dont time the cam or crank, must not be important) then undo the pump nut for no reason, remove the pump pulley and belt at the same time, which must be the usual way, then change the top seal in situ. Also a tipex mark on a belt is helpful in some way.

Wait a minuite, that dosn't make sense!

never done one, but would be willing to try, aslong as your'e prepared to buy a new pump if it goes wrong. But i don't have a clue if these need calibrating or not. The 2LT-E pumps dont.

Also depends on where the leak is, the above statement only applies if it's the distributor end.

Brilliant, thank you for the info. yes, have to take the pump out yet but as you say does not seem to be rocket sience. Certainly, I wont get seals from Toyota will go on rough trax instead as suggested to get the Bosch ones.

ok, will have a look right now. If not I can always give them a ring.
will let you know when I've got it and of course, when I have the pump out
