  • Water Pump

    Quick question (well two)

How long would you estimate it to take to change the water pump?

Would you recommend £28 bellocat one off eblag or £40 from Roughtrax?

Did mine by the side of the road and to be honest I struggled.

Until I decided to take the chuffin fan cowl off and then it was easy.

Should have said it is on the 2.4.

Nope, very different, and very easy on a 3.0, as are most jobs compared to a 2.4 apart from changing the turbo.

Personally I'd allow at least a morning or afternoon to do it without rushing, there's lots to take off to get to it, and there are important bits like the cambelt to get right.

If it were me, I'd be changing the cambelt, tensioner and idler when I was in there.

                            Changing the belt and tensioner?

I am pretty sure it was done about 30,000 miles ago.

I think I will have to see what the belt is like with regards to any possible damage caused by the coolant occasionally dribbling out...

And on a related matter the timing belt light I am right in saying that it has to be reset by the button on the dash?and or would having the batteries changed would not effect it or reset the timing belt counter?

I'd still change them, just like I'd have changed the water pump when I did the belt 30k ago

I don't know about the counter, I'd think it wouldn't be re-set by taking the batteries out.
