  • 1100 rpm when idling???

Hello all.... my 1990 LN130 idles anywhere between 1100 - 1400rpm, after I have started driving it anywhere. When initially started it sits at 900rpm... Could anyone give me any simple pointers that a mechanical clampit could deal with.... ?

I have searched the forum this afternoon, and see lots of reasons for low revs/stalling, but not many that i understand for over revving... so if i'm missing a thread please just point me in that direction ;-)

    many thanks for your help

    Throttle sticking?
Do the revs drop if you hook your foot under the accelerator pedal and pull it up?

Not at all Bushwacker - and nothing appears to be sticking or restricting the cable at the other end either.

What should it idle at btw?

If it wasnt for the fact that it starts off at 900, Id say that the idle up switch was on.

            thanks Jess... manual it is

            and Bogus.... 'idle up switch'?
is this the bit of cable that is pulls the throttle on slightly and if it had an end to it, would be down below the igniton switch, to the rhs of the steering wheel? ( I have an empty hole, with a cable tucked up behind the lower dash minus some sort of end piece).... if its not that ????

Not sure 1990 Surf's had em Alex (Mine didn't)
But had what looks like a choke (as you describe below David)

Idle up switch is generally up on the dash right hand side ...

Jess is right, 1990 didnt have the idle up switch, it was a "hand throttle" thing as described. So long since I got rid of mine Id forgotten. I,ll keep out of it now as Im clearly talking crap.
