As I can't be doing with these funny foreign ways of measuring I did the maths and I am getting 23mpg on a 2.4 ssr x auto calculated over 3 tankfulls.
This appears to be on the lower side of "average " consumption so I have just added injector cleaner. See how it Go's.A positive attitude wont solve all your problems but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort!

Well, my two penneth is that we took the caravan out for the first time two weeks ago. I filled up with fuel on Friday aft, (£40) left Blackburn to Bolton then straight to Stransall. Only one diversion then back home to Bolton and needed to fill up again! Did 329 kms to a full tank, thats... erm.... 204 miles!!! .......60mph all the way, even up the hills on the M62!
Correct me if I'm wrong, if we call fuel £4.00 a gallon that means £40 equals 10 gallons. So 200 miles works out to 20 mpg, I think.
I may try these additives and see what happens, on the usual commute I only get around 400kms, but then I do have a rather heavy right foot!Damian

Hi All,
Well i have owned my 92 SSRX for just over a week and i must say i'm very dissapointed.I have worked out it is doing 16-17mpg mixed driving! ie i put £20 worth in and got 150klms=94miles out of it the car has only done 71000klms=45000miles and does not throw any black smoke out.Surely this can't be right for a 2.4tdiauto my previous Range Rover fitted with a 2.8tdi mated to an autobox used to manage 28mpg@80mph and that's 500kgs heavier! Oh and another gripe do any other Hilux owners find the driving position to be a bit cramped,or is there any brackets you can buy to higher the drivers seating position? Please any advice on the above subjects very very much appreciated.
cheers,
chaz.Cheers,
Chas.

Hi All,
Surely someone wants to talk to me? to add to my previous post i had my mate follow me yesterday and he said my Surf was chucking out black smoke most of the time.I must admit i never noticed myself probably due to the tinted rear window, can anyone throw any light on this i know it's down to overfueling but why? I am about to change the air filter am i right in saying it's the same filter that fits the1990 4.2 tdi landcruiser as read somewhere on one of the Toyota forums? Please as always any advice very much appreciated also any advice on the seating brackets will need a wheelchair soon if i can't sort it?Cheers,
Chas.

I't a bit quite on here today, a badly blocked air filter will indeed cause overfuelling and resultant black smoke. AFAIK the air filter is the same as that fitted to the 3.0l uk 4runner, eitherway any decent motor factors will have no problem matching one up for you, just be sure to bring the old one along to check.
With regard to the seat, I'm sure someone on here mentioned raising their seat before, try a search or hang on and hope they see this thread.Maurice
