  • Overheating...again.

after blowing the head gasket and cracking the head i was a little teasy, now i have had the rad recored aswell because the pipes were corroded and blocked causing more overheating. it seemed to be runnig okay untill yesterday the old girl got very hot and pis#*d a load of water out of the expansion tank. have bleed the system a couple of times hoping it was a air lock but its still getting hot on uphill and tickover, nothing blocking the rad and fan seems to be okay. the mechanic i went to tested the coolant and allthough the test wasn't crystal clear it indicated that there was gas in the system, he thinks it could be a cracked engine block but isn't sure,
good old trusty 2.4s any suggestions?

Did you get a standard recon head or new redesigned one? If you got the standard recon It will still have the design faults and sorry to say It ,cracked again! Hopefully It might just be an blockage but sounds like gasket or head again!

it was a new head with 10,000 mile warranty. if it was the gasket wouldn't it lose all the water?

Best bet is to get it pressure tested. Good luck!!

went up the road about ten miles at 70ish and back home no problem, pulled up on driveway waiting for turbo timer to cut out and the temp gauge started going up, the electric fan came on but had no effect. after inspection i found the wheel arch to be drowned in water from expansion tank and put a thermometer in the exp tank which read 85 C and was bubbling like a goodun.got the beast booked in next week for crack test.

Try a new rad cap first . Everyone on here seems to do that first and it can cure the fault .
