can anybody give me a idea y my 1991 hilux surf keeps overheating and blowing the water out of the headertank have just rebuilt the topend could it be a crack in the water way thanks logman65

take it out and boil a kettle, pour water into a jug and put the thermostat in, see if it opens.
If not then replace, do a search on here and there is a thread on how to burp the system, next to check is the water pump, behind cam belt cover, if this is alright, then it is probaly head gasket, did you use genuine parts,
are the head bolts torqued correctly, did you use new bolts, need more info on exactly what you did when you rebuilt the topend.www.furryfriendsinneed.com

The header tank isnt a regular header tank,the cap is a two way,allowing water to flow back and forth from the cooling system,allowing expansion.Thats why,sometimes the plastic tank is near empty,othertimes its near full.Try changing the cap.They stop working sometimes.
