  • Cylinder Heads, Injectors and Suppliers

Well after much crossing of fingers and tons of help from all on this forum i had to give up and bite the bullet today, i have just bought a new complete head and relevant paraphenalia!

I must say how impressed i have been with the company Im using . They are in bristol and called RoughTrax, anyone familliar? they have a really helpful/friendly chap there called Barry who is happy to listen to your ideal wish list, go and find the parts, and then surprise you with non-heart stopping price!

So here goes: Brand New casting with all new seals, cranks, tappets etc etc (only part re-con'd and ground are the valves). New Cambelt, All gaskets and bolts, ready to bolt straight on just need your old sprocket = £810! inc carriage + Vat, to me that seems pretty good? bearing in mind all gaskets and belts are Toyota. In surrey everything seems to be more expensive! same stuff (but patent gaskets) in local supplier £1000+Vat. When he thought up that price he obviously thought that the torn jeans bad hair and un shaven look was my attempt at looking fashionable rather than completely Brasic!

Does anybody know roughly how long the ends of the injector nozzles should stick out of the injectors, just having mine re-done and the guy at the shop reckons mine were out too far appx 2.5mm he showed me some that he saidwere right appx 1mm long, but gave no explanation?. Just wanna check cos he seemed a bit cagey!

Well if anyone out there wants an old cracked casting let me know as Roughtrax only want the parts back as they don't bodge cracked castings (good to know)

    Thanks for everyones advice.

Just put injectors with new nozzles in my 2.4.Have not measured them but they would be no more than 1mm.Old nozzles were about the same.Sounds like yours are very worn.

        Nice One!

that puts that one to bed! my injectors looked like a cosmetically enhanced male german porn star in comparison to the picture! Guess its re-con injectors for me then.

Thanks JimL for taking the time to take a shot!

no probs, digicams - you gotta love them

That said, the injector in the pic is not reconditioned (have surf 2 yrs) and I havent seen a new one so...Neville might comment on how my one looks compared to his new ones.

Very hard to judge condition from a pic.My eyesight aint what it used to be either.I did notice that there is no carbon. Was it cleaned?I will take injectors out but as for judging there condition I leave that up to the experts.

Just finished putting in rebuilt injector pump and reconditioned injectors and has made a big difference in performance.I can't test thoroughly though as the clutch is slipping and can't handle it.I think I can safely say that it is around 20% better. It would want to be too.Cost me over $3000.00

I thought you said somewhere you'd stuck new injectors in?
