hi all,
i'm having a problem which is causing me a bit of a headache, i'm losing water randomly from somewhere, and i can't figure out where, after 3 days of driving to work and back i needed to add around 1.5 litres of water to the rad, this has happened a few times ,but doesn't happen consistently- i check it every day and it'll be fine and then it'll be drained. i took it for a drive up the skifield last weekend which gives the car a bit of a workout and got the temp gauge right up and it didn't lose a drop.
this has roughly coincided with my temp gauge reading 'normally', when i first got the car it took an age to heat up and the temp gauge never really got above low so i assumed thats how surfs were but now it will climb to between a quarter and a half on the gauge.
apart from these things there are no differences in the power, driving or general behaveour of the car.
i plan on changing the thermostat and rad cap this weekend as recommended in other posts, any ideas apart from that?
any info appreciated.
by the way its a 1990 2.4td
regards martin
