    cheers jon
You can only get a replacement from Toyota (i think) they are about (sitting down) £50, it should be easy enough to unscrew and replace.

Try TonyN or Linda (on here) or stormforce as both of them might have some half demolished engines they could get one off for you. First off I would disconnect the cable and check for a broken wire.

(note to self must practice what you preach, this weekend! )

As Nifty Nev says it's above the starter so a bit difficult to see. If you are demolishing the engine whip off the inlet manifold, I think it's a little black, square headed switch directly above the starter, it has 2 wires going to it.

Just a word on the coolant sensor's. mine went last month and after cross checking the part number's they are common to the Toyota range. IE celica mr2 etc. My local motor factor had one on the shelf for the sum of £12 inc they are made by INTERMOTOR.

I still have the new one I bought as I used a 2nd hand one from the breakers after I found out they are the same as celica.s.
If you remove the air filter case, then the electric connector bracket from the inlet manifold, then remove the small bracket that holds the 2 small vac pipes.WARNING do not get the vac pipes mixed up or starting on a cold engine is very difficult. With these removed gently pull the wiring harness to one side and retain it with a cable tie to keep it out of the way.
If you put your hand under the manifold roughly under No3 injector the sensor is located in the block, Then the hard bit, trying to get the connector off, If your going to replace the sensor anyway snap the head off and then disconect it. (they are usually broke and hanging on the wires anyway) The nut size is 19mm If you have a short length ring spanner good, I had to cut one down to fit. Only do it on a cold engine as the sensor is in the water jacket in the block so it will pressurise. you dont need to drain the system as the water loss, if your quick is minimal, and there is a sealing washer also fitted so dont loose it. Good Luck INTERMOTOR PART No 55123
