  • Primer Pump Duff...Help

Replaced the Diesel pump filter but the ****** thing wont prime.

Done the operation exactly to manual instructions.

    My Questions are.

1, Is this hand Pump Serviceable?
2, If NO where can I get a nice cheap one from?
3, Is there a work round for this problem?
4, Will I have to crack open the injectors to further bleed the sytem on this year model?

The Surf is a 91-H in the year and is the 2.4td Auto.

    my personal e-mail at m0jfk@tiscali.co.uk

Thanks in advance my fellow 4x4 Surfers from Peter

you dont need it, fill the filter with diesel before you fit it, crack open an injector, turn it over to bleed

a quick check to test it is, take the pipe off the pump head coming up from the tank and put your finger over the hole to see if its sucking as you pump it

          1993 Surf Auto

          Dear All

Just a quick question! I am just about to purchase a 1993 2.4 Diesel Auto SSRX Surf Jap Import. Can some tell if these models are full time 4x4? Or is it selectable 4x4..
is there anything else to look out for?

I have read about the Head thing etc

          Thanks

          Brett

selectable 4x4.. but not for use in 4wd on tarmac, only loose surfaces

Excuse my ignorance.. So the high and low lever next to the gear selecter is the 4x4 selection?

no, there is a button on the side of the lever, when you press it 4wd will light up on the dash, when you select low it goes into 4wd automatic

dont mind me I'm only ribbing, that post is deleted, all the same Ian you said selecting low on the lever means it goes into 4wd automatically. I understood selecting low applied in 2wd and 4wd, and only when the button had been pressed did it engage the front.

and seen as its over to me :
                        lever in hi: normal driving
lever in lo: off road driving where steep ascents are involved
4wd button pressed: all of the above except now in 4wd

So there is a select button somewhere?
