1, Is this hand Pump Serviceable?
Dont bother, follow the tips and your laughing then dump the manual
2, If NO where can I get a nice cheap one from?
Some poor Toyota rottin in a scrapyard
3, Is there a work round for this problem?
My way is fill the new filter with diesel, then screw it up, put on the 'in-hose' and pump till it squirts from the 'out-head' ... then fit the hose up and pump some more then crank, start and smile
4, Will I have to crack open the injectors to further bleed the sytem on this year model?
One maybe, no bother 17mm open ender
Sorry Brett its his thread....get your own

to test 4wd
i had the exact same problem with my pump primer after a filter change, i did what was suggested here, took the filter back off, filled it with fuel, opened the pipe to the injectors, and turned the engine over until fuel came out, not ideal, but it worked .............................. .............................. .............................. ...................
4wd test
the only real test is to take it off road, so take the surf into a situation whereas it is just losing traction in 2wd, then select 4wd and try again, you will know immediatley if 4wd is working. (4wd should not be selected whilst the transmission is under load, i.e. if the surf is in 2wd and you have lost traction, don't select 4wd whilst spinning the rear wheels, stop first, 4wd should be selected before the hazard, however it is ok to select 4wd whilst the vehicle is moving under normal driving on anticipated slippy surfaces).
the quickest offroad test would be drive onto wet grass, accelerate in 2wd hard enough to spin the wheels, stop, switch to 4wd, try again, get out, plant some grass seed, apologise to the greens keeper, run away.
Note that 4wd should not be used on grippy surfaces, the reason is during 4wd, the front and rear axles are locked together, and any turning makes the front wheels travel further than the rears, to 'transmission windup' occurs, whereas either a wheel has to break traction to equalise the load, or a driveshaft will break, or someother expensive transmission component,Last edited by stara; 21 March 2004, 11:52.Simon '91 2.4td ssr-x

If the dealer is that knowledgable (full time 4wd) I wouldn't bother with him, sounds like all he is after is your money. Come on, I mean if your going to sell something then at least know what your talking about.Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.
