Right people,
The truck has spent a day at the garage and they have managed to achieve NOTHING AT ALL!!!!!!!
They adjusted the fuel pump timing in every direction (all of 1/4" !) and this has made no difference at all. Apparently the delivery is electronically controlled and must be done with a laptop - but its got the same ECU as it had when it was quick, so why does it need adjusting ?
The previous engine was strong and could pull the car up to the ton (if needed) with very little hesitation.
The replacement engine has the most awful flat spot at around 40mph and has no guts at all, it seems to drag itself through the gears screaming and kicking. The best speed I've had so far (which took 5 miles to acheive) is 79mph ! First thing in the morning she'll idle nicely, no smoking but if reved there is the slightest lumpy misfire for a moment or two and toddler could outrun it for the first mile or so. (I know diesels are sluggish when cold but this is ridiculous)
The turbo is spinning up, you can hear & feel it. There is no excessive smoke of any colour. Nothing gets over heated, the oil presure is fine. I even tried the EGR mod (This worked on the old angine and has made no difference whatsoever on this one)
What the HELL is wrong with it ? Where do I start without throwing ££££££ at it ? Is there anything I can test, try ?
Help ?
