we just got back from tesco express and couldnt see it. however we did see £5.29 for 10 litres = 52.9p per litre. not the usual 49p though, but cheaper than what i bought the other day. but they only had one 10 litre for that price and we nabbed it.Oh Nana, what's my name?

How do you check if you have one fitted?
Cheers Taz
I think the winter pack is an extra on the ssrg...the truck gets 2 batteries, heater controls for the rear passengers and the heated fuel filter. not sure if anything else gets added over the standard truck.
hope this helps

ok lads im now an offical veggie surfer!! wayhey!!...around my area ive found a cash and carry to which i obtained a day pass and bought my self 20 litres for 11.99...started of slow with 80 /20 mix (dropped in a new filter also and have now brought it up to 50/50 mix ...no ill affects at all (apart from my morning start problem, but hopefully get it sorted shortly) im sure with a little bit more looking i will find it cheaper than 11.99 but at moment more than happy, but i did notice on my 20L tin it said on the label "with anti foaming agent" mmmmmm i thought ! could this do damage to the pump ? it seems to be an "E" number.... i took the gamble so hopefully not.....

veg oil: some experience
veg oil eats rubber, the fuel pipe and the seals in your fuel pump are over ten years old and made of, you guessed it...rubber, the higher the percentage of veg oil the more it will corrode the rubber, there's loads of factors to considder when using veg oil but most surfers seem to get on ok with a 50/50 mix, but go any higher and you'll risk it eating all the rubber seals and it also puts extra stress on your fuel pump too as it's thicker so something else might go wrong. Fuel pump is an absolute f##ker to get to and it's not a fun job replacing the seals, worse still if you knacker it and you have to get it out, you need to remove a load of bits that surround it, . Be careful or heat your fuel, but from experience, don't go 100% oil unless you have had the car modified, othwerwise you'll either have a car off the road while you fix it like I was, or you'll have a massive garage bill for fixing it, and the grease monkeys will laugh at you as they take your money.
I changed my seals (for synthetic ones) and I'm back on 50/50 veg/derv, sems happy again and the old chip fryer smell is back.
Another tip I would recomend if you're mixing in tank, use the super diesel or even better a bit of Redx fuel additive to balance the mixture and increase the octane back to where it should be, I get a 60l tank of fuel for about £47 with this mixture bringing down the cost to about 79p a litre, it's now more econimical than the wifes focus (auto/1.6) and she hates that!
By all means do your bit for the environment and veg up but be careful , read lots and be scientific in your approach
Peace and Love

In practice many manufacturers were using viton and other syntethic seals and components long before '93 and certainly well in excess of 10 years ago. Thus it is by no means certain that Surfs over 10 years old, or even 15 years old have rubber based components.Maurice

im currently running waste oil from a nearby restaurante - filtered through a pillow case , then left to settle for 1 week ,then poured into spare 3 litre veg oil bottles through a pair of nylon tights . left for another week to settle , then poured gently into tank , chucking the last inch out as its full of $$$$.
just drove 300 or so miles on 60/40 mix effortless .

veg does degrade rubber cos when ive left dribbles on my truck from filling up, the rubber gasket on my body kit has started cracking up, just at that bit. I have replaced my top seals on ma pump but still have the smallest leak (ignoring it) Not bad, as im still getting 28 mpg on a run.Without Surf And Unhappy
