Cheapest place for batteries is Vauxhall dealers with a vauxhall club card. The batteries are cheap as chips, 3 year guarantee and are made by Exide. They are brilliant.

Ive got a similar problem.
Couple of months ago I noticed my Dash Lights (charge - t belt - Filter) stayed on for while, the charge meter showed about 3/4. Usually after the first trip of the day they would go off when next started and the charge meter would read 7/8. This happened several times but always went back to normal.
Last week it happened again but never went off. With the nights drawing in Im coming home on lights and having to charge battery over night.
If I dont use lights or heater etc I can keep going for days without charging. Even after failing to start have bumped it and still driven home 20 miles on lights without it packing in. Surely this means Im getting some charge from the alternator otherwise it would just stop after a few miles?
