Information
Thanks Matt, I don't know where some people get the information they post, sometimes I think they just make it up.
People come to forums to pick up valid information that they can use, they shouldn't have to sort through a bunch of BS. The Bankspower tech site is a good source to give people some background on how a diesel really works - which one would think would be a prerequisite to formulating opinions of advice.
You might want to check out the 'Camshafts' thread I started on the Australian Surf forum, again there is some good information that I think some members of this forum might find of interest to increase their engine's power.
I am presently working on a 'Viscous clutch' mod over on the forum. Once I get the spare clutch to work with, I think I may come up with a partial solution to many of the over-heating problems members keep having. Although there are people that are putting 'Landcruiser fans' on their Surfs, the viscous clutch is now appearing to me to be the weak link in the system. If the clutch is slipping (and they do), then a bigger fan just makes it slip more (more resistance, more slip).
I'll stop back by when I have completed the research and the resulting modifications.

turned it back - no appreciable difference
I tried the tweek last week - wound clockwise 1/4 got more black smoke on load power, no appreciable difference in anything else. wound it back almost a whole turn and less smoke under load, and no other apprciable difference.......
