Could be air bubbles in the fuel, intake hose leak or dirty air filter. Check the glowplug fuse in the black box under the bonnet hasn't blown.

Probably an induction or fuel problem. Check for leaks in the air intake system.

Silly question, are you running on 100% dino diesel ?

Some of the "greener" options can cause rough running until fully warmed up.

May be worth double checking the timing marks on the injector pump. If they are one tooth out, you will get these symptoms.

                    rough idle

sorry forgot to mention replaced the injector pump with a non e.f.i type from an early landcruiser and it ran fine but wouldnt go into top gear and management lights flashing no rev conter, just been out and swoped the e.c.u but still the same, also worth mentioning if i spray a few squits of easy start into it the tickover will be lovely for about an hour, any more clues lads?

It's a pump problem. Not delivering enough fuel to the injectors, 'cos the other sensors on the engine are not getting correct signals.

i keep getting signals wrong resulting in poor pumping action, but hey...don't make me a bad person.

changed the injector pump, exactly the same as before, has anyone had timing marks that are wrong,so to make it run right it has to be a tooth out?

Did you fit a pump for an EFI engine?

Not yet, I think your clutching at straws You need to get an working EFI pump back on there. Its probably just getting confused.
