  • Automatic 2.4 Stuck in Park

I have a 2.4 Automatic and can only move lever out of park if i press the red button I checked the gearbox level and noticed that it needed topping up so i then topped up to the high level that says hot.

I did this when the engine was running. Tried again to move lever from park -No luck- had to press red button again.

I was not sure that this would make a difference but i also made sure that the small lever was toward the seat as far as it can you go -Still no luck - Any Suggestions.

I checked the break lights like you suggested and found that the breaks lights are not working - thanks, but i replaced the break lights with new bulbs and found that again the break lights still do not work although the back lights do work - didn`t realise that the break and lights were the same bulb.

Is there a fuse i can change for the break lights - if so - where.

        Thanks.

There is a fuse down by the drivers footwell that often blows when the brake light goes, mine does regularly when put in reverse! Check to see if your gauges are working and/or the windows work, for some reason this fuse (10amp) is for the dashboard gauges and indicator lights but also stops the windows & blower fan from working!
Got an itch, might need to scratch it soon.

And its worth looking at the little switch above the brake pedal, the one which will activate the brake lights and allow moving of the gearstick. It could be dodgy, in fact it sounds like it is to me
