  • Advice on replacing 2.4 head or fitting 3.0l engine

Right after changing my thermostat and pressure cap,

and testing the coolant system, all seemed fine.

    Well for about a week.

Just stripped the head off and is deffinately cracked.

I am would like to know is what you guys think I should do.

Should I replace the head, with one of the modified ones. Only trouble is there seems to be a fair bit of corrosion around the top bores on the block.

Will get a pic on monday to show how bad. You guys may think its fine.

    OR

Do I attempt to find a 3.0l td and fit that. Will want a manual though, even though mine is an auto at the mo.

Any advice you guys can give will be much appreciated. Also what type of price would I be looking at for the engine, gearbox, loom and ecu.

Had thought about getting a crashed 3.0l manual and taking all the bits i need.

Not sure which would be better and more cost effective.

    Thanks

    Dan

Corrosion around the top of the bores is pretty normal, as long as it doesn't go on the block deck so that its under the headgasket its normally OK.
