Had it all done and mine still wont go in a straight line if I take my hands off the wheel. Steering idler bushes replaced. Had it on the ramps and shaken the living daylights out of the beast. All my tyres (front and rear are wearing on the inside shoulders). Has she been airborne and had a pancake landing, which has left the axles banana shaped? or are all the specialists I have taken it to dI**ckheads?Originally posted by GamedawnIf you're talking 2nd gen then the specs are:
Camber:- 0° 43' ± 30'
Caster:- 2° 14' ± 30'
Toe In:- 2.0mm ± 1
I am really tempted to take it to the local Toyota dealers.Last edited by kitesurf_phil; 24 February 2005, 02:06.It's only a hobby!

Had mine done at an HGV place about 18 months ago on one of these laser alignment setups. When the guy had finished he said that the effects wouldn't be felt until I swapped the tyres front to back. Oh yeah I thought as I drove away a vehicle that still pulled to one side. Had to swallow my words when I put the rear (evenly worn) tyres on the front and it steered straight - until my next offroad expeditionOriginally posted by kitesurf_philHad it all done and mine still wont go in a straight line if I take my hands off the wheel. I think in general that normal tyre monkeys don't know what they're doing.

cheers guys. I was feeling a bit !!!!!! minded when I posted that comment.
I am getting a very slight clunk when there is a ripple on the road surface. It's the sort that you would ignore on a Ford.
I lifted the beast up on a trolley jack so that the front wheels were hanging, checked for play in the wheel bearings and had a mate move the steering from one lock to the other. We repeated all the above checks with the wheels on the ground, so that all the steering compnents were under load and still found no play. I'm thinking of seeing if I can convert my laser level into a homebrew tracking guage.
It's only a hobby!
