HELP !! Please . Engine has just stopped ....

Please can anybody help me , I have 2.4 ssrx 1993 , driving today and engine just stopped , it will not restart , sounds like starter motor when I try and start (engine won't turn over). Batteries all conected and electrics all working .
Any ideas ....

Both , died out , now it will not start..

u try your heater plugs but if it was running did it do anything before that m8

No , nothing unusual at all , its been running sweet , do you think an air lock is a possability..

is there any clickin when u try to start it try all ur fuses relays m8 earth straps

It sounds expensive, could be your cambelt.

My thoughts exactly, is it making a sort of higher pitched whining noise when turning over?

To check this you will need to remove the timing belt cover and see the belt. If you have air in the diesel lines ie airlocked, try pumping the hand primer (rear right of engine bay at top of bulkhead) turn over then one by one try cracking open injector pipes on head to see if diesel weeps out.

Thanks for the response , the engine will not turn over , there is no whining noises , my thoughts are electrical fault.Getting a mechanic tommorow..

test ur battery an check the main alt an ignition fuse in the engine bay as the main alt fuse was gone on ours had lights an other stuff but get'n dim but wouldn't even put power to starter think the fuse is a 100amp bolt in type clear top blue fuse

I had a loose connection on the starter once. Could hear the solnoid clicking, but just wouldnt turn over. This wouldnt cause it to cut out though.

this happened to my clio 3 weeks ago ... the engine just stopped (i was going 50)
the engine wouldnt restart although the starter motor was turning and the spark plugs were firing turns out it was the timing belt(had snapped) and all the valves were bent.

u know what i did ... i bought a surf

Local garage have told me engine has seized due to no oil ! I don't think this is possible , having a second opinion at the end of week , reckon a valve has gone (hope so). Totally gutted only had Surf 6 months , paid £5000...

was there oil in it when you left home??
if not then that could be your problem!
hardly something you can claim on warranty!

if a valve was gone than it would turn over and would probably have been missfiring before hand.
