Why are most Surfs automatics?

The advantages of an auto when wheelin' are that it takes all the snap out of the driveline, meaning you won't break axles and other parts as easy, it has the ability to change up and down without any gaps in traction at the tyres andit won't stall no matter how slow you go leaving you time to pick a nice line though the terrain.

Dissadvantages are you will always need a battery to start the car, it can get hot if worked hard and slippery downhills are harder to go down slowly without using the brakes.

Pro and cons, just like life, never a definative answer to suit everyone!

Hi ya Sumo, I'm hiddin away here in deepest Bungay. Could you check out if those trucks are manuals or not - it would be most appreciated. Drove about 100 miles today Surf shopping for nothing but autos and hillbillies!! My time will come

Hi Kiwi, ok I went and had a look and all 6 of them are auto's 5 x 2.4 at between 5 & 6 1/2k and a very nice 3ltr at 7 1/2k. It was having to spend all morning dribbleing over what I saw and trying NOT to look too interested and in .Hope this helps m8 and if you decide to head this way let me know and I'll put the kettle on.
