  • Stressed!!! (briefly...& for.....nothing!) doh!

OMG did I feel a like a moron......

Sat in Tesco carpark munching through my Ginsters with the engine running as it was freezing. Anyways, I switch off (figuring I'd be there for a while) and ten mins or so later I decide to fire-up and head off back to work. One problem, HUGE problem tho':

"My ignitions bust" I panicked, "can't get me key out (meaning I also couldn't disarm the immob)" - three minutes of fighting with it [visions of handing over many £s to ] - bit more of a struggle and then, (much to the wife's delight) and like a message from above, I decided to start from scratch & double check everything.

Only turned out I was still in Neutral (due to idling) - as soon as Park was selected, as if by magic, the ignition surrendered my keys and I was off! :

What's the stupidest thing anyone else has ever done (as far as their Surfin life goes!)?

she been talking to my misses Steve?

dunno about stupidest, but I've had my baby for over a year now, we went on a camping trip down south last month. driving around poole, suddenly all the power went. I coasted to a halt and started up - all seemed ok and off we went.
busy roundabout, just entered it and bingo - the thing cuts out again! this time I managed to only inconvenience a few cars etc. started up again and drove into a car park to try and see what was up.
as I turned in, my knee hit the key fob, which turned the key and turned the ignition off!
why this should happen after over a year i don't know. then the wife pointed out that perhaps the new waterproof seat cover ment that I was sliding forwards slightly - she was right.

the cure? A simple addition of an extra link on the key fob so that it just jangles if my knee touches it - phew!!!

While vacuuming the truck, I pressed the red button and pulled the stick into neutral, so I could get the dust from the dash side of the gearshift. I looked up just in time to see my neighbours garage door approaching at a rate of knots. A quick application of the handbrake averted disaster!!!!
        It's only a hobby!

Couldn't start mine after fitting a new stereo. Thought I'd screwed up some electrics or something when i had the dash apart. Took dash off again, couldn't see anything wrong, still wouldn't start. Took new radio out, still wouldn't start. Put old radio back in, still wouldn't start. Had a fag. Put gear stick back into Park. Started engine.
I had put it in L to make some more room when taking the dash off. Doh.

Reversing into a stupid little brick wall (one of those about 1 foot high) 2 days after fitting a new bumper end... boy did I use some colourful language!! The wall has never been repaired and still has a big hole in it 1 year on!!

Then got another new bumper end - took 6 months to fit it... then went to Norfolk and dented it again!!!

Funny thin is (and my fingers are crossed) the other side has never has a dent, bang, rust or anything!

I decided to service my surf myself, when it came to the washable air filter I used petrol, the problem was I didnt dry it out enough and when I started the engine the flashback blew the left hand side headlamp to bits!

                            WIFE does it again

Wife rang me up at work, couldn't get the keys out of the ignition, yes you guessed it got home it was still in drive. next time she rang me stupid truck she said nothing works, rants and raves abit then tells me the sunroof wont close, gets home from work again fearing the worst and find she hasn't pressed the little button at the side of the close button.
Just after we had bought it she rings me up, it wont start , she thinks she has flattened the battery, she had left her mum in the car with the radio on for ten minutes, I said you cant flatten twin batterys that quick, try switch the alarm off as it will have immobilised itself automatically, sure enough it started. HE HE
