Can any knowledgeable chap out there recommend a good quality metallic gunmetal grey, similar to code 179, that comes in "rattlecans" ? It needs to be quite chip resistant, because it's to do some alloy wheels. Many thanks.

Use these guys: http://www.paints4u.com/ProductDetai...productID=5423
But make sure you buy the clear-coat for the durability you want. Their cans are great considering they're cans. Their clear-coat is class IMHO.
But their colour matched paints are exactly the same, to my eyes.
U-POL ####es on everything else you can get in a can. Just my 2 cents

Don't do it Mick, they'll look crap!
Not your abillity to paint you understand, but grey wheels on Surfs generally.

Mick,
If you have access to a compressor even a cheap spraygun and 'proper' paint will be so much better than spray cans. The difference in thickness that the paint goes on is huge.
I use a cheap sealey 'gold' gun off ebay with a little 25 litre compressor and the results compared to spray cans is excellent.
hth,
Rob.

Thanks for the input, guys, but I've had a change of plan. I had arranged to buy a set of five 15x8 five spokes. £200 including centre caps. The plan was to shelve the centre caps, and do them in the same colour as the lower body and arches. The guy turned up with them last night, and it turns out that although they have had tyres fitted, and then removed and sold separately, they are literally like brand new, have never been on a vehicle, and are too good to mess up and repaint. ( for now. ). I'll post some more pic's when I put them on the truck." Time wounds all heels ".

See how smart it looks?
Now imagine those wheels painted grey, they would just blend in with the tyres.
