Anyone know how many litres are left in your tank when the amber fuel light comes on?

Found out today after filling up that it's a 55 litre tank, not 65. Bah! More fuel stops! Anyway, managed to get the 15 miles to the petrol station.

Anyone know if fitting a bigger tank is a straight swap?

My 3rd gen handbook states 20miles range when the light comes on, managed to get 21miles out of it then got 66litres in the tank on refilling, it must have been running on the contents of the fuel filter!

The factory manual for my second gen (1991) states there is 9 litres remaining when fuel light is lit, dont have a book for my third gen but if toyota dosent change too much over the models ild assume 9 litres again
