just having a thought about insurance and on adrian flux they offer discount for owners clubs... would it be worth a call to them to find out exactly what qualifies as an "owners club".... perhaps others such as milners would offer discount??

I had a very competitive quote from Footman James. They list clubs on their site so they may offer discount too.

I got a discount from these because I'm a member of the Jaguar enthusiasts club.I'm a custard donut monster

well i think creating an official 'Toyota Surf Owners Club' should be considered. it could bring some benefits.
I think the only requirements would be electing a committee;
Chairman, Treasurer (if payments are reqd), and a Secretary.
I have done this before.. a long time ago. So if anyone has any further information, post your views.Ian

You could join the Toyota Owners Club. have a look here :-
http://www.goldmembers.co.uk/toc_index.php
It cost £25 per year and you get all sorts of discounts , including Insurance.
try having a look here : and select Insurace from the quick links at the top.
http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/
From reading it , they have posted all the info you need on the site, so you wouldn't even have to join to get the discount ( probably )
anyone here a memeber already ?http://www.darksidesolutions.co.uk - Web Solutions

It certainly feels like one. FORUM, CLUB whats in a name?.
Looking at the toyoa owners club, this is exactly what they are doing (not sure if they have committee/officers though. maybe its not required?)
There has'nt been much feedback on this thread so it may not be what people want.Last edited by icsys; 8 October 2003, 13:25.Ian

If it was to form some sort of club , you could do much the same as the TOC , and have this forum free to users , but have a Gold Member status, where you pay a subscription to get all the benefits a club would offer. i.e , only members get the great discount at Devils Pit etc.
This would also bring in revenue for the webmasters to purchase webspace , and traffic bandwidth , and possibly give some capital for making other merchandise.
The payments could be easily managed using Paypal , its a little more overhead on the workload for the admins , but if the club was formed , elected members can take charge of different functions.i.e
Events organizer , green lane advisor , etc
I for one would be willing to pay my £25 to here , rather than the TOC .
Maybe one of the admins can run a poll to see what the 300+ members of the forum think.http://www.darksidesolutions.co.uk - Web Solutions

Whilst I have no objection to paying some sort of membership fee to cover web hosting costs etc...(within reason) you don't want to alienate would-be members by charging more than a nominal 'donation'
I say donation because membership fees are taxable.
If an official club is seriously being considered then a poll should be ran as it is a possiblity that few forum members will actually show interest.
I hope I am wrong as it could be beneficial especially as this vehicle is an import.Ian
