If the engine had no oil pressure, it would sound pretty rough and knock loudly, especially at the top end which would rattle really loudly until everything got hot and it would eventually seize.

Does your pressure gauge do nothing at all, engine hot or cold?
Is the wire secure on the pressure sender?
Is the connector for the wire secure? (it's grouped together with the alternator wiring)
It then goes from that connector, into the engine wiring loom all the way to the two large multi-plugs behind the ECU which is behind the passenger kick panel.

when it failed it went it went as far right as it could pulled over checked levels etc. all OK (this was over a year ago) since then it has not moved from far left suspected cable, gauge or sender

unplugged cable from the sender the other day and connected to negative battery terminal and moved to 1/4

so assumed sender hence the swap out

I will then be changing oil and filter just methodically working through

it does sound a little rattly sometimes and still have gear problem

but every morning I go up a short steep hill after a bit of throttle on way up gears behave for a while

cheers mate any light you can shed would be greatly appreciated

does anyone have a Turbo Boost Pressure Sensor i can borrow to test with just ruling things out one by one

new oil pressure sender has made no difference after messing around installing it couldn't get it lined up to go back in (we will see if a oil and filter change helps)

will be fitting another TPS when it arrives (hopefully monday) if this doesnt help i want to rule out the turbo pressure sensor

cheers for all your help so far

Reading back through your old posts, did you ever to the diagnostics test?
And you've had no oil pressure reading for the past nine months??!!

no oil pressure on gauge for over a year died going up hill actually had an army HDV mechanic with me who advised probably just gauge or sender and would be OK without and to monitor (before you ask he has gone back to oz lol) didnt have gear issues until much later i would assume if no actual oil pressure, engine would have died by now ?

earthed cable and guage moved up form far left to 1/4 so assumed sender, fitted the new sender and no difference

when i jumper the diags port i dont get anything (no error codes) but do have flashing O/D light hense having to methodically eliminate factors

every morning i go up a short steep hill on the way to work and boot it after which gears are almost always ok

have spent the last couple of month testing this theory and 9 time out of 10 it works also after a trip on the motorway its usuallly ok which would suggest it not a mechanical issue ?

will be adding new earth for box to chasis and head to chasis tomorrow but dont think this will help

have read TPS can throw up wierd and hard to pin point erorrs hense swapping

sorry to be a pain im just trying to methodically get to the bottom of this thanks again for all your help

If the O/D light is flashing then it's a transmission fault, nothing to do with the TPS, earth straps or engine oil pressure.

You say the problem more or less goes away when the engine/transmission is hot? This would indicate something is sticking when the fluid is cold or the problem is to do with the fluid itself.
You need to do the diagnostics check again for the transmission.....

cheers bushwhacker will try again and let you know

i have changed the ATF fluid 3 time so far (only by draining and then cycling the gears to get as much out as possible)

                        will let you know mate

just read the PDF and it states
"Low battery positive voltage will cause faulty operation of the diagnosis system. Therefore, always check
                          the battery first."

before xmas was told my batteries where badly sulfated and needed replacment but have had 14v since so think there ok

here are the results from the daignostic port

no overdrive flashing but an engine check light flash

                            am i doing this correctly

please see image and vid below

                            http://youtu.be/nZ8V7W6nw7Y

if i am doing this right i see it as error 2 assuming the below table is correct
would this give me these symptoms

"2 - Turbo boost pressure sensor"

Here is the 2LTE fault codes:
                            1 - Normal
2 - Turbo boost pressure sensor
                            4 - Coolant temperature sensor
                            5 - Correction resistance (Pump)
6 - Pump speed sensor (Pump)
                            7 - Throttle position sensor
8 - Intake air temperature sensor
                            9 - Vehicle speed sensor
                            10 - Starter switch
11 - Switch sign (Vehicle not in P or N or A/C on)
12 - Timer control valve (Pump)
                            13 - Crank position sensor

can someone please confirm which fuse to pull to clear code so i can ensure this isnt an old code

                            cheers

Jon it doesn't want to be running to read the codes mate, just turn the ignition on and then read the codes.

went for a drive and O/D started to flash retested diags port still 1 flash from engine check light but NOTHING from O/D light any ideas guys

im jumpering the ports as in the above pic are these correct
