Still about mate, look in every now and then, have been having massive problems with the internet these last 12 months, to far out for broadband and the dongle i use is crap. Plus since i got another boat, have been spending to much time sailing, well someones got to do it.

Thin end of the wedge putting up pension age, next thing the sods will want to go is have you put down if you live long enough to claim a pension. Any way who the hell do we owe all this ruddy money to, ruddy bankers thats who. Didn we just bail loads of them out a while ago. So are they lending us the money we gave them? Tell em all to pi$$ off and dont pay them, pull up the draw bridge and dont let em in. What can they do? Shoot us all? Now that would save a lot of money that is being wasted on keeping penioners alive. I am due to start collecting my police pension as from tomorow, better lock the door, they will be coming for me. Cant let me have any of the money that I paid in back. Any way nowt wrong with going on strike to try and protect what has been hard won over the years.

Twas the BIG 60 today, and I got a very nice little lump sum on my police pension that should keep me in neck oil and bed socks for a while.Left the force 21 years ago now having done ten years in the West Mids, But even the we were paying 11% into the pension fund. Any way did my bit, dealing with the $hit day in and day out, picking up the bits that were left over when the drones had finished playing. Dealing with drunks, accidents and death, oh yeah and the odd pervert. Still work in the public sector, and have to say I cant wait to retire altogether. As for drawing bridges, well I did go to art school for a while as a teenager

Gordon Brown did not help the situation with his cynical taxing and pillaging of pension funds, but basically its our fault for living longer. When pension funds were invented you were all either meant to die before retirement age or at least shortly after, leaving money in the fund for the few who took the mickey by hanging on for a bit longer. If its any consolation it will be much worse for the next generation.
I think that I, and many others on here belong to a "golden generation". For generations working class families have always hoped and aspired, that their kids would have it better than them, and thats pretty much been the case with educational and employment opportunities for those who wanted it. Im now convinced that this peak has been reached and for future generations its all downhill.

In all seriousness, this is why the house we'll buy next Spring will hopefully have annexes / large substantial outbuildings, or space for such, because I can't help thinking kids are going to need a lot more help in life than I, or preceding generations did - and I'd rather they had roofs over their heads at the very minimum.

Let's face it, none but the very fortunate (or, rather perversely, the utterly bone idle baby machines) are going to be able to afford a decent house til they reach middle age.

I dont want to retire at 65, maybe a Saturday off would be good and a fair rate of pay but i dont mind being a milko, specially when the weather is good keeps me fit pays the bills, keeps me sane and judging by the retirees i see on my travels as well as the dole bums most of who retired before they even started work doing nothing isn`t that good after a while

Apache, Yes that did make me look like one of those "we,re all doomed" miserable Scottish "weary Willies", but Im not really. Ive had this belief for a long time now, Im sure all of our kids will do just fine, but I just cant see them ( in general )being able to achieve what their parents have never mind better it, and Id like to be wrong in this.

Slobodan, Theres always exceptions, but in your case you had better be a damn site nicer to your kids, than either Apache or me have to be to ours.
