Tell you what, there's lots of private refuse firms out there. Bet they'll pick up some new business...

Teachers... I know a few lazy, overpaid moaning ones - they can go (I know some dedicated ones too - we can keep them)

Cleaners? We can stick the lazy feckin dole scroungers into those jobs - there's plenty of private cleaning firms much leaner and meaner, I'm sure they'd love the new business.

    Any more?
Sounding like you want to Privatise everything, Privatise the NHS too?

Well from my last utterly farcical experience of it when my mum was in and out of hospital recently, I'm inclined to say yes.

Seriously though, I don't want to see everything privatised, just the underperforming poor value for money bits.

I'd fire everyone called 'Assistant Director' or 'Head of ............ Strategy'. They're idiots. And I'd stop paying the thousands of Councillors who do nothing other than take backhanders and get the Assistant Directors to lick their shoes.

If you guys want to strike, go right ahead. I'm not going to stop you or even tut at you. You have had it easy for a long old time though.

I imagine whats next is probably a microscopic look at value for money in the public sector.

                    Also long overdue.

God even my beer isn't making this thread any more enjoyable. And for that reason, I'm out.

So is mine, but I still have to pay more in to get the same out. Pension rules changed a few years ago, the private sector moved early to sort it out; the public sector are now playing catch up.

The Assistant Director needed to write a report to Cabinet before anything could be done.

Yep. Them'll do, I'm sure they wob't mind if it keeps the pensions right.

It was a Labour government that changed the rules. The present bunch are merely implementing them.

Andy each branch of civil service has vastly different pension deal/agreement history.

That is why the Prison, Fire and RGN {who are by far the biggest} all stood together and worked today.

Much more complicated than people are trying to suggest.
