Been a bit busy the last few weekends trying to get this done before the bad weather comes - getting there though...

probably a very stupid question but I thought I would jump in before thrifty but as the base has a dwarf wall do you need building regs/planning permission?

Depends how you interpret "temporary wooden structure that just happens to be sat on a boundary wall...."
So no, it would be classed as a shed methinks...

Only ask as SWMBO wants a summer house built in our back garden and the back of the strucure would be VERY close to our boundary

Well, I'm liking your ideas of an undercover BBQ area, but no, that will be next year, when I save up a bit more cash. I have very BIG plans afoot for that.... The larger open half is a wood store, and I have the wood, already seasoned, to fill it entirely, and the enclosed half is a 6'x6' shed for the mower and garden tools, garden chairs etc...
Felt, Roof tiles, Fascia and Guttering, and a trellis for the open side, and its about there I reckon...

Oh yes, the semi disposable BBQ, only last 2 seasons and then the bottom falls out due to rust. This is the 2nd one we've had, and I suspect next spring it will be making its way to the tatters... Despite that though, you can get a fair bit of food cooking on them!

Is it 5 metres away from the house?

You can build anything up to 3 metres high out of brick without planning if its over 5 metres from the house...

The cream area is where I plan to start my covered area/bbq/patio joining the 2 extensions with a glass roof coming out as shown on the second picture (I drew this a few years ago and am still refining it!)

Yep, they are an excellent size. I tend to use that for the beef and pork, put the chicken in the Chiminea (cooks it better).
