May have to save some pennies first, and also better get rid of the third Surf and finish off LVII.
How gorgeous is this though...
Beetle mechanics, IIRC, so well-sorted for spares and no NASA-spec wiring looms/ECU headaches (as long as you don't want the heater to get warm inside of 15 minutes). I always think of Jimmy Dean though, so I'd have to stick some roll hoops in there.Surf if you got a wave. Wave if you got a Surf.™

Those cars normally end up in the club by people part-exchanging them against membership. They get driven around until they die, then sold on ebay.
In fact, you've reminded me that they are currently in the process of selling off some of the knackered stock of decent cars to clear some space. I'll see if they've got any potential projects lying around. They tend to be dry-stored so they're not rusty. It's normally that the interior's gone or the engine needs expensive work.

One possibility is that she has seen how much pleasure I get from tinkering with the Surfs and wants me to be happy. This possibility can obviously be discounted as being absurd.
More realistically, she is either planning a very expensive house project or yet more animals and so wants me onside, or she has taken a lover and wants me to be distracted. But hey, either way I get to buy a car to spend time and money on...

Project suggestion
As an alternative to the kit car idea, why not purchase a new MGB bodyshell from the heritage people that make them, and build a "new" MGB from scratch, you could use a scrapper as the donor car but new bits for the important stuff, brakes and what have you.

i bought this as an unfinished basket case
its all rivets and nuts and bolts - took about 6 months of spare time to make it right. basic mechanics and simple wiring - no ecu's and sensors to give you a headache
an unfinished one is a cheap way to start as the owner has already bought the bits.
i was looking at cobras but this came up and i just went fnarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
