Both my AMEX cards have positive balances at the moment. If you pay money in to them, they will hold the positive balance.

No interest though...

I'm sure you have thought of this and chose this option for a reason. However my opinion (although may be wrong, as usual!) is that I would store the £800 in almost any bank account with an interest rate. Preferably one with moderate interest. Then, if I did have to cost a new head, provided I paid back the card company within the month I would accrue no interest from them, but have earnt some on the £800 saved elsewhere.

Interest rates are shit and if the money was in my bank account, I'd spend it on something else. I didn't miss the money once it was on the card, so I now have a free cylinder head
