Vegi Oil Sale

In the 3 or 4 years I used to run on veg or a blend, I found my range was around 80 - 90% of that on pure dino - ergo you save next to nothing with the price of veg at £1 a litre - but its kind of cool in a hairshirt sort of way.
I stopped bothering when veg got to about 70p a litre, and just used (free) filtered waste veg until my source dried up.
Now I cant use veg, but then petrol is cheaper / 2.7 less thirsty anyway.Cutting steps in the roof of the world

Have to aggree with that, unless your getting it for 50-60p a lt (or free used oil) it aint worth the faffing about, especially concidering the problems with veg, like filters, the mess putting it in etc, a few times i went and spilt it all down the bodywork and tyre, my engines still caked with a sticky gell where the ip leaked, effin orrible stuff reallyToo young to die and too old to give a toss

Fraction over 93ppl is pretty good.
I keep hearing waste vegi oil is free. I've been to a fair few chip shops, restaurants and other takeaways, and they all tell me they are being paid for their WVO. Once upon a time you'd have to pay to have it collected!!
The only free stuff you're going to get is from yourself, friends and family but even then it won't be big quantities. A few litres here and there. You can buy WVO on eBay but the money i see it going for at times is just ridiculous.
I was seriously thinking at one stage about either buying or making a BioD processing system. I was prepped for buying Methanol and WVO in large quantities, and all the other chems and equipment needed, however, before spending a penny i researched a while longer and just watched and waited.
Ultimately I came to the conclusion that it's all a bit of a folly and i'd end up being stuck with equipment and chem/WVO i wouldn't use because after doing all the maths it was clear that savings would be minimal, and take quite a while to recoup the initial investment.
I nearly swallowed all hype about about making BioD for 60-80ppl. Not a chance in hell for that price. Maybe 110-120ppl a ltr all in. Not worth all the hassle IMHO for such a small saving.
I have to say though, mixing quantities of vegi oil with diesel seems to make a lot of sense if there is a genuine saving, but i keep hearing about less mpg when you do that so, is it really worth it in the end??
I think for now i'll just stick to paying for it like the majority do. Ultimately though as prices keep going up i'll have to make sure my earnings do as well!!Now it's time to play!

Maybe you didn't do your research in the right places!
I make biodiesel for 15-20 pence per litre. Run lots of vehicles on it.
I also made the reactor myself. Cost me about £200-300 including a new pump and other new bits.
I have made about 800 Litres of bio diesel until now and some is going into a common rail engine.
You will probably find it hard getting waste oil in Northants for free, got a couple of big boys up there that suck up all the oil!
If you pay say 20 pence per litre you should be able to secure about 100-200 Litres per month from the local take aways etc..
Let me know if you need more info on it.l'm FAME-ous!
