What exactly is a "meet" is it just that,or do you have the opportunity to wreck your Surf by driving it over rocks?(which I am totally against, can't afford any expensive repair bills!)

See , we,ve tried to get this off the ground before & then it turns out about 4 people are up for a meet & they all want to travel no more than half an hour from home !
If we are going to make it a bbq & overnight camp whats the problem with travelling 2 - 3 hrs .
I,ll travel that far as long as someone is prepared to organise an event.
Someone mentioned Matlock - this is a great area & being fairly central it should attract a lot more people for a Northern meet.
Sumo travelled all the way from Suffolk to N.Yorks for a weekend camping & off-roading at www.langdalequest.co.uk
We had a great time & it was open to anybody to join in .... but nobody did.
As for Scotland - its not that far from here to the Borders & if anyone wants to be my guide thru a bit of Scottish mud - I,m interested.

I personally don't care where the fri**ing meet is. Someone be a leader and name the venue( from the many suggested ) and I (we) will be there. might even book a couple of days off either side and make a holiday of it. Devils Pit is not licensed for camping ( not that sort anyway - you ought to see the cars wi blacked out windows on the approach road, all steamed up............)
See ya there (Not on the approach road to the Pit)
            It's only a hobby!

I'm up for a meet, don't really care about distance (hell, 4 hours from the midlands will get me almost anywhere).

as long as people can use the surf without risk of damage etc etc so they can get home easily I think it's a good idea.

Geoff forgot to mention 1 thing the campsite we (the family that is not me & geoff) was in the back garden of the PUB and the food was good as for the Yorkshire ale ***** it is. also its got a football pitch with REAL grass so TonyN cant cut his knee when he takes a DIVE.
                    sumo.

Personally,I think www.langdalequest.co.uk is a great site especially for anyone who hasn,t tried their surf off-road before. Its all graded & is set to be interesting without damaging your vehicle.
The area is also ideal for anybody who wants to come for a weekend (or longer) as Sumo will testify.
Close to Scarboro' ,Whitby , York etc. & lots of facilities close to hand.
I didn,t push it too much as its not central & nobody showed much interest last time.

I've stayed there a few times when I've been to the Kit Car show.
It would mean leaving it until August next year if folk wanted to go to the Town & Country Festival
The more I think about the Town & Country Festival site the more I like it

                          1) Bang in the center of England (depending on whether you use the 'Meriden center' or 'Leamington center') so equi distant for the average Surfer.
                          2) Camping facility.
                          3) Off road course (usually hijacked by The Range Rover Register doing charity off-road rides- but who know's maybe Surfs too in 2004?).
                          4) Major 3 day family event- yes there's plenty to do for the whole 3 days (August bank holiday weekend) for the whole family. Yes- even I could bored of staring at Surfs for a weekend. And the missus certainly would.
                          5) 55 other car clubs gather there, plus Military vehicles traction engines etc.
                          6) It's about two miles from my house- I could walk there!!

Out of interest I have enquired to RASE about getting a car club into next years show.

Good man!!! - I'd prefer NAC for those reasons - it makes it a family affair & if folk wish to go off site to see the countryside - so be it

Think we need to start looking at what constitutes an "owners club" so that a stand could possibly be raised.
                            NO WORRIES!

Hi all. sorry to jump in.

An 'Owners Club' thread has already been started here:
                                http://www.yotasurf.co.uk/Forums/showthread.php?t=734

Perhaps this could be used to discuss if creating an 'official' club is the way forward so that all relevant posts are in one place?
