Since it is difficult to believe that the staff of the DVLA could possibly be as stupid or jobsworth as this whole LEZ episode tends to suggest, presumably they must now be doing it on purpose just for the hell of it.
So don't waste your time on them.
i definately think they are doing on purpose as i dont think a whole department could be that useless

She has been in touch with TfL and apparently the omission is due entirely to sheer weight of numbers - there are just so many vehicle exceptions to process. She has received an assurance that they will be processed in next weeks batch upload - these take place every Monday night so if you are also waiting on your case to be processed there is no point in checking again until next Tuesday.
Anne Marie is off next week but has advised that an email can be sent to her colleague (Lynn) if updates still haven't gone through by next Tuesday, and Lynn will chase up TfL. If you had gone through Anne Marie and need to chase this up next week and need the email address I can supply.
Good to know that we have someone 'official' chasing this up for us.

I phoned tfl on tuesday and ann marie is on holiday and lynn was at lunch so i spoke with heather stokes and she was very knowledgable on the surf problem and said i needed to send in pics of inside the rear and the tailgate showing badges and number plate and she will sort it out, also mentioned something about a new classificaion for surfs and similar vehicles they want to set up.
so i sent in photos with a little note to the email address
then got this email this morning
Good morning
Tfl have declared this vehicle as not subject to the LLEZ and the details
will be updated next week.

Henry I did no more than phone Tfl, explained the hassle with divs at DVLA who's info they relied on to determine Yeah or Neah compliance....

Originally posted by flounderbout View PostApologies, had assumed that was following exchanges with VOSA about getting it changed. Can't quite see how TfL are able to actually change the registration (as opposed to their reg checker giving info as to whether changes have been implemented elsewhere). But it may be they can just exempt vehicles on the nod?
After all it's Tfl that has the last say "Compliant" or "Not discretionary powers n all that ....
I refer you to my letter of 19th September 2011 to the DVLA ...
I'll just go find it !!

Dear Agency Staff,
RE: - TFL Notice - Low Emission Zone 3rd January (Non Compliant)
TOYOTA HILUX SURF (Estate Car) Import
According to my Records the above Vehicle should already be compliant also on 3rd January 2012 as this Vehicle is an Estate Car with 5 Seats, 5 Doors and differs none to the Toyota Forerunner (UK Model)
However on checking with the DVLA records office on the telephone on 05/09/2011 there appears to be discrepancies held at the records office and to what actually appears on my V5C (Logbook) as you will see. (Copies supplied)
Nb. anomalies….
Number of seats
Weight
I was also asked to download a form and complete for the LEZ Vehicle Registration!!
(Copies supplied) Cars and Motorcycles are exempt !!
I trust the DVLA Office to rectify this matter and to inform all relevant bodies /departments concerned relating to the Tfl-LEZ 2012 and the Compliant status of my Vehicle at the earliest opportunity as I may have to inform my Insurance company of incorrect information via the DVLA, rendering my current Insurance null and void due to false information.
Please find enclosed a copy of V5C and LEZREGFORM.
Yours Respectfully

Now not subject to LEZ
Hi all,
I have been following this thread from the start as my Surf was not compliant. I did not do anything about it as my cylinder head cracked so I sold it. I know that the guy I sold it to has not updated anything as he was exporting it on the sly. It is still registered in this country as far as I am aware.
When I sent off the form I changed the body type to estate and I just checked and it is no longer subject to LEZ.
For those having problems it may be worth selling it to a trusted mate and then getting them to sell it back to you.
Worth a try if nothing else is working.
Best of luck
