lol, yeah, you only really need to loosen it a bit, it'll get all damp around the end after a few cranks, but you can take it off to be sure if you can reach ok.

i'd still be checking the timing marks like the others said, if batteries are up to spec it does sound iffy.

THe cover is a doddle to whip off on a 3.0.

Finally managed to get the injector undone and turned the engine over briefly (for a second) a few times and only got a few drips of fuel out. Certainly not a squirt. Tried pumping the fuel filter top a few times and it is pretty solid.

So... hopefully its a fuel problem. Any thoughts on next steps?

Wonder if its a fuel line or even the little heat exchanger I have fitted.

                Hopefully this is good news

Have you checked the wee filter in the pump?

Sorry if you have, I've not checked the whole thread.

And take the heater out, just in case.

Thanks Andy. Yep, I think Tony checked the pump filter last time it was with him. I'll try and work out removing the heater and see what happens.

Is there any best way to work through the fuel system to find problems or are there some obvious areas as well as the heater?

                        Thanks

It took ages to get hard (well it happens with age ) when I pumped it when I changed the filter. I don't think its making any sucking noise but I'll try it tomorrow and see.

                            Cheers Ian

Make sure you have emptied it first

So empty the filter, refit, then try filling it using the pump, then see if it has fuel in it?
