  • 2 Days to clean truck

Salty roads really mess up the motor. One side of mine was white after travelling along the A3 last week. Then going through Rotherhithe tunnel coated the windscreen in soot and smeared over with the wipers. At one point it was like trying to drive a shower cubicle.

I recommend these: Rain x, Victoria wax, wheel wax, tyre gel (because it smells nice and brings up every black part of the truck as new - trims, mud flaps etc)
With the rainx you dont need to use the wipers as much on the motorway as the water beads and runs off instantly.

Rain X is great stuff. You could almost do without wipers with it applied to your screen.

I'd recommend an acrylic sealant as a base product. Carlack 68 is the best one I've tried. It forms an ultra thin acrylic wrap over your paint that's frost proof, heat proof and shrink proof and anything that sticks to the car comes off really easily and doesn't tarnish the surface: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=68488

Top this off with Collinite #476 and it'll easily last the whole winter whether you live in Shetland or Southampton: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/sealan.../prod_356.html

Never put a sealant over the top of an organic wax or you'll yellow the wax and make it a nightmare to remove.

Tony, tony, tony, no, no, no, all that sounds expensive & time consuming.
I take mine to the local kosovan car wash, doing a special this week "£3 any car" wash, wax & chamos.

they do a top job aswell.
If its not broke don't fix it.

We don't have any soap covered Kosovans up our way.

Call me a fanatic but I'd never dream of putting a sponge or chamois near my truck. You might as well wash it with a Brillo pad.

        Hose down to start.
Wash using a lambswool wash mitt and 2 buckets with grit guards in the bottom (1 soapy, 1 clean water)
        Rinse with hose.
Dry with Waffle weave drying towel.

Now, how long before I get royally flamed by the mud brigade?

If you leave it long enough, the truck will become self cleaning. I've had mine for 14 months and have never cleaned it.

Not convinced about the RainX stuff, seems to make the screen smeary when you do have to use the wipers and if the rain if the sort of stuff I've just come home in (low cloud / drizzle) it doesn't seem to work so well.

Spent a whole day cleaning / polishing the truck before the snow arrived in anticipation of the salt. Used Autoglym Super Resin polish, My paint seems to quite like it, not got that much crap stuck to it.

                        Cheers

                        Ben

I may have mine cleaned for the summer. But I have a life, so if I do decide to clean it, I'll will get someone else to do it for me.

Would rather do it myself, cleaning the car is a good excuse not to do something else.
