Why do you have to find someone not using the comparison sites?

I compare every year, and don't always go with the cheapest, stuck with the same for a while as it was convenient and they are a big name, with the 6" lift and 3.0 it increased so shopped around.

I found mine on a comparison site, declared my lifts and still got a decent price.

And I'll say it again, they are in business to make a profit.
The Surf last year at renewal was doubled on a policy with maximum NCD (I didn't pay that price after three months, yes three months of shopping around).

The Mondeo has gone from 480 to 700 with no changes.

    Please define extortion.

I have spent 2 days on the internet and here we have an example of price fixing. Cheapest on Confused £588.4, go campare £588.4, moneysupermarket £588.4.

I know they are in it for profit, but there comes a point when it is blatent greed, and because they all compare prices (please see above) we are stuck with two choices pay up or don't drive.

      You need help fella.

Confused, go compare and money supermarket are all comparison sites not brokers or insurers, if you give them the same information they're bound to come up with the same quote.

Edit: The only point in using more than one comparison site is that not all insurance companies are on the same ones, because yours are all the same it means the ones not on all of them aren't giving the lowest quotes.

Try changing the variables, might bring it down. Add a named driver, up your excess, limit miles, move out of the Bronx. Is this for the Surf or the Mondeo? If it's the Surf you'd be better off searching specialist 4x4 insurers than on a regular search site.

I think it maybe something to do with the VAT increase, or so thats what i was told yesterday coz exactly the same thing happened to me! iv got a traders policy which allows me to drive anything as i buy and sell cars on a regular basis from home, iv been paying £51 month with the same policy for the last 2 yrs and i got my renewal letter just before xmas bumping it up from £51 a month to £85 a month which overall is quite a rise! i was festered but could'nt ring till yesterday when thier office reopened again after xmas and thats what they told me, its the VAT increase! i cant see how coz its only 2.5% VAT rise but apparently thats why its happened. nothing i could do about it coz upon searching for other quotes all other companies were doing there same thing! so looks like im just gonna have to deal with it

There is also a tax on insurance premiums that the government fix the rate for.
