Well.. update is..

Sumo's suggestion of cutting it off was also suggested today by my mechanic friend, just to allow me to drive it until the new bit can be fitted.
His other sensible suggestion is that he doesn't fit the new tail pipe until after I get back from Devil's Pit (must be reading your mind Koi!!)
He has ordered the part, but I don't know the cost yet. I'll let you know when I do.

And finally - it's fixed - nice shiney new pipe!!! All set for the Pit on Sunday - what's the betting the one bit I damage is the exhaust???
